The Portland house was "move in ready" and did not need anything..... so we remodeled it a lot in the eight years we were there.
The windows in the bedroom were replaced and bumped out to provide wide window sills. We gutted the kitchen. The landscaping in both front and back was redone. And we build an office in the back and redid the back deck. Other than that it was "move in ready"...

And I built an office (garden shed) complete with electric
a connection to the central vacuum, and Internet.
This allowed me to do my consulting work without
disturbing the household.
